Both busy and lethargic

Friday
Friday night was Geek Prom as we all well know by now.
I arrived home and Monte and I wasted valuable time snuggling on the couch and going over wedding things. Said snuggling delayed getting ready and also deprived us of dinner.
Eventually, he started getting into his tux and picking which of his pastel ruffled tux shirts to wear. And I went through every outfit I own. All my ball gowns. My cocktail dresses. A few new items that didn't accessorize well. And nothing fit right.
{le sigh}
Being 20 pounds overweight is a bummer.
Eventually I dug up a dress that I've never worn (as it's always been hid in the wrong drawer). It was a tight spandex number. Yes, it is odd that the outfit I had to wear because I'm too fat for my ballgowns was a tight spandex number. {shrug} Being 20 pounds overweight meant that it was a lot shorter, a lot tighter, and showed a lot more cleavage.
Nobody complained.
At any rate, I felt comfortable and attractive and didn't have to go through the evening feeling out of sorts with my clothes and my body.
I did make a strategic tactical error in my choice of shoes though. I chose the heels I wore in Sweet Charity. They are very high heeled pumps. I knew they'd be tiring, but they looked hot with the dress, and I knew I could dance in them.
I neglected to take into account that I slowly built up the stamina to wear those puppies. Ouch! By the end of the evening I was hobbling.
Still, they did look hot.
So, me in my tight spandex mini dress with seamed fishnets and fuck-me pumps. Monte looking adorable in a tux with lemon yellow ruffly shirt and suspenders.
The room looked TERRIFIC! The decorations were gorgeous and creative and funny. The standup collection was impressive. And everybody looked GREAT. From jeans and blazer, to period costume and everywhere in between.
Monte and I circulated and chatted.

And yes, Vackovich cut quite the dashing figure in his white tux jacket.
Saturday
Monte was going down to visit family in Iowa, leaving early Saturday morning with his folks. I foolishly let tipsy, tired Monte set his own alarm. He set it to PM.
So, at 5:30am he gets awoken by a phone call saying they are out front and waiting.
Monte gets up, throws on clothes, packs hurriedly, doesn't even get to brush his teeth (grabs a pillow and blankie for further napping in the car) and hurries out.
And so I had the day to myself!
I slept till 11am. And then I spent the day scoping out more wedding venues. I had no luck. So I missed Kitten's birthday party for no good reason. Annoying, but at least I now have these places crossed off my list. It's down to two places definitely now. I also stopped by Target, and got to drive around with the car windows down alot. So, the afternoon wasn't a complete bust.
In the evening, I went to see Annie, Get Your Gun at a community theatre since a friend was in it, and a bunch of the GODSPELL cast were going as well. I had thought to maybe stop by Pied_Piper's party afterwards, but instead my hunger got the best of me and I joined people at Matt's and had a Jucy Lucy.
The show was a mess. Gini was terrific in the lead. But the choreography and music direction were awful. I'd heard how the whole thing was disorganized, and you could really see it. Also, Gini had pushed her voice (even though they had body mics), so her middle register was gone. Which I blame on the directors for not pulling her back.
Did I mention that this is the show that I applied to direct and they told me I didn't have enough experience? So, they picked this guy.
Hunh.
I guess "experience" is subjective. Just because somebody's directed before doesn't mean they've directed WELL before.
{snigger}
Sunday
I woke up at 8:30 for no good reason (even though I was up till 2am!). So, I got up and balanced my checkbook and did other computery things. Then I sat down and watched some Stargate SG-1 episodes. I also watched Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Gorgeous animation!
Then I gathered up my dead trees and headed down to the Rad for the concom meeting. With my windows down and the radio blasting! Oh, yeah!
Meeting: check!
Returned home to find no Monte. Waited around but then got bored and headed over to Movie Night on my own. Stopped at grocery store for hummus, pita, Hawaiian bread and ice cream cookie sandwiches. I was feeling snacky.
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is heavy handed, yep. But Jimmy Stewart is so cute in it. Aw. And it's one of the few really hardcore "patriotic" films that I actually enjoy. And Claude Rains was a very dapper man.
Some appropriate political ranting after the movie, as well as a review of the usual arguments about the Star Wars prequel trilogy and its flaws.
Home again, jig jiggity.
Today is Monday. I believe it is Monte's Monday Movie Night with his buddies tonight. I've skipped the last two, so I should be in attendance if it happens. Darn, I wanted to see "A Mighty Wind". Maybe I can talk them into a group outing.
