windelina: (snatch)
I'm experiencing post-con let-down. I get three-plus days of full-on social interaction, and then it's like going cold-turkey. I both need the down-time and yearn for more interaction.

I am conflicted.

I have many thoughts and stories to tell. They are all blurry. I should start taking notes at conventions, darn it.

I am sad that because I run the darn thing, and because of the way it affects my energy and attention span, I did not get quality time with a number of people. I have resigned myself to this over the years, and also come to believe that people accept this about me. That said, it was wonderful to see and hug [livejournal.com profile] cjdoyle, [livejournal.com profile] jenx, [livejournal.com profile] bloodlossgirl, [livejournal.com profile] uglyzebras and [livejournal.com profile] redbird23. I wish I could've gotten more face time. But there's always Omegacon!

Other brief highlites, to hold you over for the nonce:
- Lex as Bad Kitty always makes a convention better
- [livejournal.com profile] vackovich petting my head. It felt goooood.
- Teacher-woman's survey comments: "as per their wont"
- Pizza and survey review
- A conversation about peanut butter with Andrew Probert
- Getting to meet Katherine Kurtz
- The Iron Artist Panel
- All of my panels were well-attended and seemed to go well. The costuming panel rocked and the J.C. Intervention kicked serious bootay.
- DFB has confirmed his unremitting awkwardness.
- Getting to sit a panel with [livejournal.com profile] silmarian
- Making Adam V. do Samba de Amigo with me
- My nephew wanting to come back next year and wanting to do the Masquerade
- Something that looked like a terrible problem in fact turning out to be the funniest joke of the weekend
- Seeing both Sil and Pisces tipsy...they are awfully cute when they can't walk straight
- Giggling with the Ops crew at 5 in the morning
- The look on Monte's face when I walked on stage in black vinyl
- How well the sketches went over, especially Closing Ceremonies
- All our fabulous guests
- The badging worked! (With small hiccups)
- A smooth Registration deployment, with added bonus of improved bonding
- Getting to see all my friends
- The Guardian of Frikkin' Forever, baby!
- The Omegacon posters, the Vice City posters, the Dystopia posters, the Dregs posters
- Wandering around reviewing all the posters with Lexinatrix and JKlumpp
- "Marco" "Polo!"
- Another kickass room party from the MISFITS officers
- A kickass room party for Omegacon
- Kickass room parties every where!
- Having a cell phone made things MUCH easier
- My Monte is the sweetest, sexiest, most cuddly and affectionate Monte ever
- Savage Aural Hotbed!
- Connie-Cam!
- Aaron in his glam-rocker get-up!
- The Gir Hoodie!
- My new slippers from Michaellee!
- Getting to perform with David Ossman! In a really funny radio play!

There's many more, but that's a start.

Last year, I took Monday and Tuesday post-con off of work. This year, I thought I could do just Monday. Hah!

I woke up at 7:30 am yesterday morning. Groaned. Called work. Went back to sleep until about 1pm.

Got up. Pseudo-unpacked. Watched "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". Monte got home. We eventually went and got Chinese take-out and some hard cider. Watched "Go" which I really liked. Sleep.

Tonight: Sex Night with the girls
Tomorrow: Impromptu board meeting
Friday: Post-con self-congratulatory dinner with the board (and somewhat post mortemy discussion)
Saturday: Dunno, but we're going to see No Pants! Who's coming with??

Oh - I have a half-day of work next Monday the 14th. I was thinking about seeing a matinee downtown at Block E. Anyone want to join me? Pretty please??

And finally -
what is with the *ahem* black culture?? I was watching tv when someone starts playing their music next door (at the car wash) so loudly that it's hard to hear the tv. I go over there, and it's so loud that she can't hear me asking her to turn it down. So, I go around the car and gently touch her shoulder. "Can you turn it down, please?" "What?" [she leans down to turn it down] "Can you please turn it down?" [she does} I walk away and she turns it back up. I turn around and go back. Once again, she can't hear me talking to her so I have to approach her again to get close enough to touch her. When I ask her to turn it down, she goes all "black" on me. "Don't you get in my space!" I back up. I was nothing but polite at first. "I live right over there and-" "Don't you go getting all on top of ME! My music ain't that loud, it's not thumping!" "I can't hear my tv - " "Well, I've got to hear it over the vacuum and that's no reason for you getting all up on me!" "Do you see that sign over there? I can call the cops on you." "I ain't going to jail cuz my music ain't that loud!"

She turned the music back up and I walked inside. And then, of course, she turned it down.
But here's the thing - she made a concious choice to go off on me. When she turned around the second time, she had this smirk on her face, her eyes were gleaming. And then she went into her act. If it weren't for the fact that *I* do not want to go to jail, I would have merrily popped her in the nose.

Honestly. When did it become okay to get out of responsibility by simply being more belligerent than the other person?

- I barely saw [livejournal.com profile] envoy. In the past, we've usually had at least one bonding moment. le sigh.
- Erik Pakieser drives me nuts. (It's my journal, my opinion. I get to name names if I want to.)
- I was polite to the frikkin' Shriner who called us all fat. Out of shocked habit. I should've told him to eat a nutri-grain bar himself.
- The front desk staff were AWESOME. Speedy, helpful, friendly. And the bellman who helped us get out was terrif.
- Realizing that my engagement was news. If I could've done some sort of chart for how some of those people found out...we're talking extended acquaintances here.
- Realizing that I will be married by CVG2004.
- The badging poles worked just as I had hoped.
- JoeChico looked amazing as Jareth!
- Amada worked the stage in her Egyptian number!
- The Captain Caveman outfit went over really well.
- The manicure/pedicure didn't go quite as planned, but was still fun
- We had photographers! And a video crew! I hope to have much documentation on this convention!
- My model continues: I really only get to panels that I'm on.
- I had fun wearing the pink wig.
- If you're going to steal a chair with wheels to ride around the convention, don't ride it past Ops. Especially when the hotel's late-night manager happens to be there.
- Penguins from Hedgie!!
- The dork who tried to claim that "George Bush, White House" was his contact information
- The Gamers in the Mist panel
- MIssing the Dregs, Scott Keever and Q in Harmonic CONvergence. Next year I will make sure to pay more attention to the Harmonic CVG schedule as well.

Addendum:
- Fitting into my black vinyl thanks to losing 13 pounds. Being able to fit again into my blue satin dress and my Galaxy Quest costume.
- Not gaining any weight for the week. (I'm sure I lost some before the con, and then put it directly back on.)
