And now, interview questions from long ago asked by Ms. [livejournal.com profile] bloodlossgirl.

1. What is your favorite movie, of all time, and why?

I suck at "favorites". My favorite in any given category (and how do you compare a ghost story to a farce?) can change from day to day.
Today, I will say my favorite movie is Holiday with Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn: two great film legends, some damned funny moments, some great dialogue and quirky characters, and a theme that really speaks to me.

2. If you could be in any production, with any cast, what would you want to be in?

I'm gonna shock some people here by not choosing a musical. (Again with the "favorites" disclaimer.) The most fun I ever had performing a show was "Noises Off!" And the cast would include Kevin Spacy, Mandy Patinkin, Nathan Lane, Carol Burnett and Parker Posey.

3. Favorite haircolor?

Auburn with blonde tips. I've never done it, but I think it looks COOL.

4. Where would you live if you could live anywhere in the world?

Paris.

5. What's the most important thing in life?

"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!"

(Or, if you want a real answer, to remain vital - learning, growing, changing, challenging. Stagnation is death.)

I've been feeling a craving lately for a condominium. I adore my apartment and all its quirky charms, but a condo...we could paint the walls. We would be building equity. We would have a home base - no matter where we wandered off to, we would have "home" here.

And the good thing about condos is that you generally don't have to mow the lawn! It's all the benefits of an apartment without the messy annoyances of owning a house! (Says super-optimistic-Windy!)

Of course, no major purchases like that will be happening this year. Leave it to me to plan my wedding during the year when the interest rate tries to dig through to China. *sigh* Maybe the economy will still suck a year from now. That'll be 2004, Bush will still be in office, so it's likely! (That's me looking on the bright side.)

Obviously, we could afford a lot more home if we had less debt. Oh, the balancing irony - pay down your debt enough to be able to afford MORE debt!

What did I do last night:
- I bought a new shirt for the engagement photo tonight.
- I ate a peanut butter sandwich.
- I cleaned up our wedding registries and figured out what we still needed/wanted to put on the lists (and what mysteriously went missing).
- I finished the book I'd been reading (at 1am. Silly Windy).

A quiet night. I did not do crafty things. Oh, well. Procrastination is always good for an adrenaline surge later in the month!

1. What one detail of your impending nuptuals do you wish someone else would just do for you?

The administrative crap: getting all the addresses, checking to make sure they are right, finding out sig others' names, reserving room blocks for out-of-towners

Crap, I say.

2. Obeserving your nomadic nature, what has kept you here so long?

I've just gotten lazy, clearly. That, and just when I start to get antsy, some new facet of my life, of this city, of my current lifestyle shows itself. Besides, I've got family here now. It's a really hard thing to contemplate leaving and being cut off from all the local shenanigans. Email and livejournal can only do so much. I might enjoy living in New York, but how much would I miss all of you fine folks?

3. *evil grin* Top five Spielberg films?

In no particular order:
Catch Me If You Can
Raiders
The Color Purple
Close Encounters
Jaws

I know Schindler's List is "important". I know Saving Private Ryan is also "important". But if you want my vote for his best drama, it's The Color Purple. Raiders, Jaws and Close Encounters are all classics, and deservedly so (Close Encounters ends weakly, but it is terrific up till the last 10 minutes). Catch Me If You Can showed a return to a light-hearted feel for Spielberg, while maintaining the weight and drama of the characters.

4. What part do you really Really REALLY want to play?

Mrs. Lovett.
Eleanor of Aquitaine.
Iago.
The MC from "Cabaret".

5. What was the quality that convinced you Monte was the guy?

When my anger flares, he doesn't back down, he doesn't scold me for getting angry, he doesn't condescend or ignore it, and if it's something he disagrees with - he stands up to me.
That, and the way he kisses.

1. You've been offered a so-so but prominent role in a play that is a promising blockbuster, and a conflicting role in a play that, while perfect for you, will only been seen by a few dozen people. Which do you choose?

I'm shallow - I pick the prominent role. You only get to do ego projects after people know you deserve to have an ego.
I'm more the "notice me" actor than the "suffering artiste" type.

2. Describe that perfect role in the second play.

Well, it allows me to sing. It would be great if I danced too. But great roles always have to do with variety and range - it would allow me to be funny and poignant and powerful. It would be highly dysfunctional but extremely committed to some ideal or goal. Smart, but twisted. *smacks lips* That's the part for me!

3. You see a monkey. What's your first impulse?

Look! A monkey!

4. Which gender's nails are more fun to decorate? Discuss.

Boys. They're generally bigger, for one thing. And there's the novelty aspect. I particularly love to hear men expressing aesthetic preferences - "I like the shiny more than the sparkly."

5. Those fuzzy little pom-poms or pipe cleaners. Which have more advantages in a craft setting?

I'm insatiably drawn to pom-pons. They call to me. But I must confess, I have gone through far more packages of pipe cleaners in my life. They are the very definition of versatility. And knowing Merriam-Webster, they'll actually add them to the dictionary! "versatility: a pipecleaner"
