Outside the Comfort Zone is actually pretty comfortable

Well, on a spontaneous whim (that I had been discussing for a couple of weeks and investigating about that long, and setting up a time that would work with star5),

I gots me some dreds last night.

I almost wish Velouria had taken a photo of the original look which I like to remember as "dandelion puff". But we tamed it down a bit and instead I looked like an anime muppet - which is cool!

After three-plus hours of having my hair played with, and turning triangles inside out, and eating vegan pizza (nummy!), and all the requisite chatting, I wandered off with my newly aerated scalp to Joe Scrimshaw's birthday party.

I arrived late and the party was in full swing! Yay for timing!

I felt (and still do feel) a bit conspicuous about my hair but the response (to my face) was overwhelmingly positive. There were skeptical and quizzical responses as well, but I'm okay with that. There may be some "What the hell was Windy thinking?" conversations happening today, but it is my hair and if nothing else, I am having fun.

Monte declared that I looked like a fraggle. And then asked if he could be my radish.

I was late to work this morning as I took the time to shave up the hair too short to properly knot up. And then I tied a scarf over it as I didn't have time to rearrange the mop (after having slept on it, it achieved new states of silly). Tonight I will sit down and play with them some more and see how best to arrange them for day-to-day purposes.

I asked Monte this morning if he loved me even with my muppet hair. His reply was odd: "I love you with your muppet hair. I do not love you because of your muppet hair." Which sounded like he hated it! I asked for clarification ("What does THAT mean??"). He replied with a huge grin, "I promise I won't love you just BECAUSE of your hair." So, I guess he likes it.

It's gonna take some getting used to on my part.
