Another night in
Aug. 26th, 2004 10:42 amI accomplished things last night, but it still felt vaguely slothlike and unmotivated. I'm in a down-cycle, from motivated and excited and energized down to overwhelmed and vaguely alarmed by how much I agree to take on.
To all the Burners: Have a great time! I can't wait to hear the stories and see the pictures!
So, last night I colored my hair (same old red); simultaneously I washed the dishes. I then ate a cheesecake while reviewing the music for "Kiss Me, Kate" trying to make decisions about cuts and trimmings. It's really dependent on the voice talent we get, of course. After that, I put in the movie version of "Kiss Me, Kate" to watch and review. Like most movie versions of musicals, it makes a number of radical changes, but it's at least not a complete rape of the show or the score. I don't like that they re-framed "Too Darn Hot" as a dance solo for Ann Miller, but hey - if you've got Ann Miller, use her! And there's a cute featurette about the filming of the movie with clips of the (much older) stars reminiscing.
Howard Keel certainly was a handsome devil.
I've got my work cut out for me, getting kids to sing and dance AND deliver Shakespearean dialog. Whee!
Tonight, we get the security system installed (finally). And more puttering around the house. I also need to do dread maintenance (waxing).
There are characteristics, or data points, of the kind of people I envy and admire. I'd love to have season tickets to the orchestra (especially the Casual Classics series this year which is focused on Mozart. I lurv Mozart!). I'd like to be someone who owns fun clothes and wears them for no good reason. I'd like to be someone who makes exercise a priority, not for weight loss, but as a part of a lifestyle where I want to be ready on-the-instant for any adventure.
No money for the first one. Need to stop being lazy in my clothing choices on the second one. And the third...that clearly needs a lifestyle redefinement. What you spend your time on defines your priorities by default and ... I'm not sure I like what my default priorities are.
I need more time.
