Cranky McBitchyface
Dec. 31st, 2004 10:02 amSo, I feel like I'm coming down with another cold. Hopefully this will be a light and slight one. But I've already been coughing as the sinuses drain down my throat. Isn't THAT a lovely thought?! Let's pause and enjoy that mental image, shall we?
Why am I at work? The only people here today are admin staff. Fucking around until noon when we can go home.
Slept like shit last night. My head was churning with sewing stuff, set design stuff, and stuff from the book I'm reading: Perdido Street Station which is fast growing in my psyche like a pupa. Or something.
I'm annoyed with trying to rearrange my January schedule right now.
And I'm trying to figure out how to do all the things I want to do this weekend while still managing to not do anything. It is a puzzlement.
Let's review 2004:
I was sick alot in January. Choreographing "Guys and Dolls".
February continued the "Guys and Dolls" obsession. I skipped Rodgercon due to lingering stress and I still haven't finished the curtains.
March, I got to perform at the 90's and Bart became Miss Gay Minnesota. We began our "relationship" with Crazy Video Guy for the convention. I threw my neck out horribly and skipped the Unified Auditions because of it. And we went to Disney for a long weekend vacation which was very fun.
April saw our first and so far only Dinner Party Club dinner. I also got my first ticket for being loud, thanks to Monte's smashing birthday party fun. We started the process of buying a house. And I competed in the Trivia Contest and did not embarrass myself.
By May we had found the house we wanted. I started the long process of getting convention costumes ready. I watched "Bob & Rose" with Michaellee.
June was the usual business of getting ready for the convention. We also finally showed Barda "Singin' in the Rain' and "Aliens". And enjoyed the Zombiethon at the Asylum. I also committed to directing "Kiss Me, Kate".
July - convention. Convention aftermath. Bought a house. Cleaned and painted house. Moved into house.
August I got my dreadies. And we went to the drive in for Krystal's birthday. And we got a piano.
September we started rehearsals for KMK. And I got cast in a show for next June even though I didn't audition. And Pat had the Squishy.
October, I went to the orchestra for the first time in forever. Lex had her housewarming. I called in Frost to fix my set. And I sewed - alot.
November saw me recovering from that last push to get KMK done. I still haven't gotten all the costumes back to their homes. Omegacon was a blast. Missed seeing "Frog & Toad". I had an audition workshop for the kids. And my first wedding anniversary.
December: we finally saw "Frog & Toad" and there was much rejoicing! Went to the BNAT where I coughed alot and had a great time. Cast the Crucible. Watched most of LOTR in one sitting. Went to Tea. And discovered the new Tech Guy was a dorkazoid.
At the beginning of the year, I had never directed a musical. Now I have directed two! I've grown leaps and bounds on that front this year.
CONvergence his a plateau this year and we're still struggling with how to push beyond it. I've discovered a renewed sense of purpose being involved with the organization.
Monte and I bought a house, thus furthering our commitment to stay together with huge loads of mutual debt! We're happy in the house, and happy with each other.
My circle of friends continues to grow and expand and I meet new people and learn new things.
We got our liberal asses handed to us and I am despondent, but resiliently optimistic. Besides, my long-term goal was to retire to Paris anyway.
I have many blessings. And a cough. Which is an okay way to start another year.
