The problem is that the Evil People have discovered that lying works. The media have adopted a philosophy of "we don't call them on their lies, we simply let the other side have their say so it's fair". There's no accountability for outright lies. Regardless of who wins, we've all lost because there is no Truth anymore.
I'm about ready to jump ship and turn expatriate. Yes, it's hyperbole, but it's becoming less so. And that's regardless of who wins the election - this country had better turn around soon or I'm just going to turn cynic and bitch about it from some Parisian cafe.
