being pretty removed from theater now but being totally into it when i was younger i think there's one thing i could say gets attention about things like that, and that is _showing_ what you're talking about.
like i could see myself as a younger version listening to someone talk about acting and kind of tuning out until all the sudden they start _doing_ shit and then my attention snaps back.
like show first the total-retarded-sucky form and then the not-spectacular-but-still-obviously-way-better-that-anyone-could-do-with-even-the-minimal-effort kind of form. leave it up to them to go beyond that because if you do it too good then they'll just copy that.
i bet they would laugh at you and probably think you're a total weirdo and make fun of you behind your back because adults aren't supposed to be animated - especially teachers(!) but they'd probably listen because if there is anything that gets people's attention for teaching-ness it is demonstration. anyway that's my idea i had when i read the phrase 'dull gleam or short-attention span twitches'. i'm a bit jealous - what you're doing sounds so fun!
