I'm sure I've expressed that to them somehow, but that's so beautifully well-put I'll have to steal it!
I know that during the Auditioning Workshop I was honest when I explained how knowing the director can be a factor, and how directors DO play "favorites" because it's easier to cast someone you KNOW will work hard than an unknown factor.
