I have an odd fear of heights, we all know. But I'm oddly comfortable working in a tall building.

Except when it starts creaking.

Like some sort of sailing ship.

Tall buildings oughtn't to creak like they are waving in the wind.

They are waving in the wind. The only problem is when they flex too much and lose all their glass like the Prudential in Boston did when it first went up.

Tall buildings wave in the wind all the time. I used to work for a company that made among other things building correctors that would help keep the waving to a minimum, but it is very often several feet. I think the IDS tower is rated to 13 feet at the top.

If it's moving like a sailing ship....

Like rolling on its long axis, or pitching up and down: this is known in construction circles as "a bad thing."

Making *noises* like a sailing ship is okay.
