So, Bush has reinstated bonuses for political appointees.

Let's make this clear.
He froze the raises of federal employees.
He wants to privatize much of the federal workforce (read "layoff the federal workforce").
And now he's approved bonuses for political appointees - which would be the "management", upper eschelon types of federal government.

Is anyone actually paying attention or are they too busy waving their flags?

So - inserted into the Homeland Security Bill (recently approved, signed, law, etc.) is a provision that shields pharmaceutical company Lilly from lawsuits - lawsuits from parents who are suing the company for possible causing their childrens autism.

This inserted rider is specific - it is shielding LILLY against THESE LAWSUITS.

What does this have to do with Homeland Security??

Well, except for the part where it makes Republican politicians on the payroll of Lilly more secure, not much.

Oh - and the Bush administration asked a federal claims court to block public access to documents unearthed in over a thousand Thimerosal-related lawsuits (the lawsuits about causing autism).

Nice to see from our "compassionate" President who wants "accountability".
Whatever.
windelina: (FreakOut!)
So, yesterday a whole argument ensued on an email group I'm on. A pretty dumb argument. Sparked by this.

Someone thought it was not nice to make fun of dumb/retarded/challenged people.

I admit it - I laughed at it. I'm so cold.

Still..."would you like an apple pie with thaa-at?" {giggle}

I worked a bit late (accruing some comp time to offset taking off early next Friday for the BNAT). Then headed home and then headed over to the Omegacon post mortem meeting. I think it was really productive, and I think we have a better philosophy (potentially) in place going forward. So, a good evening and one that makes me excited to be involved in the process for another year.

I got home late (11:30 pm) thanks to after meeting chatting about the above post which eventually wound its way to current politics. Oh - and I'm for a separate autonomous Palestinian state, thanks. Despite my late return, I sat down and watched the "making of" documentary on Toy Story. God knows why. But I sure enjoyed it.

Tonight, I don't even go home. I walk over to Pizza Luce where I meet [livejournal.com profile] lexinatrix and James and Monte for dinner before we go see Jeune Lune's HAMLET. I'm excited!

We found ourselves compulsively singing this last night.
So, I'll inflict it on you too.

To the tune of Carol of the Bells:

da da dee da
da da dee da
da da dee da
da da dee da
(up a third) da da dee da
da da dee da
da da dee da
da da dee da

I work at Burger King
making people whoppers
I wear paper hats

would you like an apple pie with that?
would you like an applie pie with that?

ding! fries are done
ding! fries are done
ding! fries are done
ding! fries are done

i gotta run
i gotta run
i gotta run
i gotta run

don't bump the fries in hot fat
it really hurts bad
and so do skin grafts

would you like an apple pie with that?
would you like an apple pie with that?

where is the bell?
wait for the bell
can't hear the bell
where is the bell?

ding! fries are done
ding! fries are done
ding! fries are done
ding! fries are done

i work at burger king
making people whoppers
I wear paper hats

would you like an apple pie with that?
would you like an apple pie with that?

ding! fries are done
ding! fries are done
ding! fries are done
DING!

Um...duh!

So, I got an email this morning from the director of "Sunday in the Park with George" saying that they will not be casting me.

What a frikkin' shock.

And here I had my hopes up! Oh, I'm so devastated to learn this since I had built up this fantasy where a director will cast me even though he didn't have me sing one damned note! Yes! I am that delusional.

Yeah - I'm a bit bitter. What of it?
