My face is frozen
Mar. 10th, 2003 12:50 pmSo, I went to look at a prospective reception site over lunch. And rather than stand around waiting for the bus and freezing, I opted to start the walk back to work and freeze. It was actually pleasant. The sun is shining, the cold is certainly invigorating. And I was bundled up and warm in my good winter coat. Alas for my face, however.
The site could be a winner. There will be a review of the facts.
The weekend: Chock-full. It is alarming for me to look at my daytimer for the month of March, on the 10th day of March, and see it FULL for the rest of the month. Aiy!
Saturday:
One on one review of dances with someone from the GODSPELL cast at around noon. Then I saw Far From Heaven at the Apache at 4pm. (It was terrific and SOOOO pretty to look at!) Then dashed home and headed off to Bonnie's 50th birthday bash. A few hours there and then we dashed to No Pants. I was starving by the end, but headachey and whiny, so we went home and crashed rather than hang out with anybody. Poor Windy. She's getting old.
Sunday:
Got up earlier than I wanted to go have lunch with Paul and Suzy. We're trying to put together a cabaret show. Then I went and saw Sunday in the Park with George at Theatre LatteDa, which was good if not terribly inspiring. (Could have been my lingering malaise and headache, tho). Then home, where Monte and I switched dressers (I think I got the better end of the deal on that one.) Then Movie Night for The Third Man.
Details:
This weekend was apparently "Windelina discovers what people say about her" weekend. Virginia, who I had one-on-one dance time with, told me that she's glad she's the type that forms her own opinions or she wouldn't have known what to make of me after what she had heard at Bloomington Civic Theatre. (Apparently, I "betrayed" John, took all the best parts and then left them in the lurch, was a big diva, etc.)
The most...interesting...part? Apparently people I thought I was close to were the ones saying this. Hunh.
This was all reiterated on Sunday by running into the GODSPELL stage manager at Sunday where she told me that she had been curious about working with me since I was "an unknown" and since I had been the star in all those Bloomington shows, she was worried that I'd be a big old diva.
Now, in both cases, I was reassured that the reality of who I am is pleasant to be around, professional, fun, etc. Mostly I was disturbed by the more malicious tone of the BCT gossip.
But it's also a good reminder to me that you can't stop other people from forming opinions and having pre-conceptions.
In other news, my usual Skyway convenience store is now closed. Where will I go for pop-tarts??
