Things were busy and stressful and also strangely elongated and peaceful this weekend.

The Wedding is going to be increasingly mentioned in this journal as things start to heat up. My apologies in advance. It's certainly been an experience doing this thing. But not doing any shows and planning the darn thing has resulted in me feeling like I have no conversation - I can talk about movies and books and other geek things of course. But just general day-to-day "how you been? what you been doing?" stuff - I got nothing.

People have been very kind to ask "How's the wedding planning going?" and I try not to abuse their goodwill by going into too much detail. But it seems like there is always some new development or idea. Or problem.

You know you don't HAVE to ask about the wedding unless you're really interested. In which case, I question your relation to sanity.

Tonight - sewing on the headpiece. I want to get it in the mail to her this week. And probably other wedding things will get discussed.

Tomorrow night - my first dance class. I confess to some stress about it - performance anxiety. Wednesday I am skipping Movie Night to spend time with Paul. Thursday night is a board meeting. Friday night is dinner with Pied Piper and wife!

Woohoo!

I hate shoes right now. I don't like the elongated point. (Probably because on someone my size, it'd look like a clown shoe.)
I don't like the heel shapes.
I'm frustrated that everything is clog, platform and/or open-toed!

Maybe it's the 70's upbringing. Maybe it's a fascination with older movies. Maybe it's simply that I like simple lines, and comfort.

But the best shoes - with the right heel height and shape - are ballroom dance shoes. Classic stylings because you're gonna need that shoe to not distract and, especially in theatre, you need it to blend into any period.

Maybe I watched too many old movies, but I prefer the older-style shoes. What I wouldn't give for a(nother) pair of saddle shoes!

And don't even start me on the prices. $100 for a pair of shoes! Good lord!
