I went to Topeka
Oct. 6th, 2003 11:30 amFriday night, we drove down to Topeka KS. Which is about an hour farther than KC, MO. Got in at 1:30am.
Got up at TooEarly for a 9:30am wedding. That was still a half-hour away. Out in the middle of woods.
I will say that it was a lovely site. And a lovely day. And I had a good time.
Then we hung around and helped tear down and got back to the hotel to pack up and get out around 1pm.
Then we drove back to KC where the reception was. At 4pm.
(Yes, 9:30am wedding. 4pm reception.)
It was at a small winery. Good wines! I was completely tipsy. Of course, I hadn't really eaten all day since the wedding was too early for breakfast and by the time we got back from the wedding site there wasn't time to eat before the reception. And then the Mother-of-the-Bride (who was a completely pain, apparently!) wouldn't start the eating! The alcohol was flowing, but no eating allowed because "the bride and groom start that". Nevermind that the bride and groom weren't hungry (because they'd gotten fast food because waiting till 4pm was too long.) (In their defense, the MotheroftheBride scheduled the reception time without talking to the happy couple first.) Finally, my mom prodded them to get the food going because we were practically chewing on the tablecloths.
Still, a generally pleasant and lovely day.
Sunday we got up and did alot of dress engineering. Then breakfast. Then fabric shopping. Then we hopped on the road and headed home. Got home around 10:30pm.
Tonight, meet with DJNoise (whee!). And there are all sorts of projects looming on the horizon!
You'll all be pleased that I did manage to delegate one major project to PetSnakeReggie. See? I can delegate!
