Frightening Truths

Our news media serves up nothing but soft-core pornography (easily digested "sexy" news bits that have already been processed by other media sources, usually focusing on famous people rather than "dry boring" news - all for the easy gratification and excitement of the masses).

Our government is currently a plutocracy.
Merriam-Webster:
1 : government by the wealthy
2 : a controlling class of the wealthy
The President's cabinet is made up of corporate cronies, each of them having a worth of at least $11 million.
And it seems to me that most of our elected representatives tend towards the higher classes/pay scales as well...

We are currently living in a fascist state.
Merriam-Webster: a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
Not to mention that Mussolini himself described a fascist state as a corporate state.

Regret

I wish I had seen "A Year with Frog and Toad" (or whatever the title was) at the Children's Theatre Company.

On the way into work this morning, they played the cookie song from the show on MPR.
And it was so cute and clever!

"Toad, I've detected a flaw in our plan!"
"What plan?"
"The not-eating-cookies plan"
"What is the flaw?"
"We can untie the box and eat the cookies whenever we want"

"Toad! We must do something."
"You're right. I'll get some milk."
