Jack Black has closed his deal. He will be playing Green Lantern in a film that has been described as a “zany comedy version a la THE MASK.”

DC apparently tried to stop this, but they have no actual control over what WB does with their properties.

I like Jack Black, but...ew.

They are squandering what could have been a good film if they make it as a comedy. The effects that could have been done for GL will be wasted if they go the comedy route. I am still gratefull that we never did get Nick Cage as Superman, maybe this will fall through too.

I could see much more comedy potential for a character like Green Arrow with all of the trick arrows that could be done. I seem to recall him having specialty arrows that fired nets and froze things back in the 70s.

We can only hope that he plays Kyle Rayner so that he doesn't further sully the memory of Hal Jordan.
