So - I think I'll use my cash loot to
1. pay off people I owe money to (people, not credit card companies)
2. buy myself a treat

I know it is not the 100% responsible thing, but since this money was meant to be a holiday gift to me, I want to use some small part of it for its intended purpose - something nice for me. (Honestly, if I used the whole thing, Monte and I could have a nice weekend getaway, so I think I'm being pretty practical for me by only getting a small luxury.)

So.
What shall I buy myself? I think I have come upon a brilliant idea. A regionless DVD player! (Michaellee, can you remind me how to get one?) Monte and I can split the already low costs! And then, as a follow-up special treat, I can buy My Neighbor Totoro or Kiki's Delivery Service on DVD widescreen!

So, two questions:
1. where do I get this fabu DVD player again?
2. any recommendations on a good place to order other-region anime titles from?

Sam's Club had a Daewoo 5800, it's been a while since I've looked to see if they still have them, but I bet they do.

But I'd need somebody with a Sam's Club card to get in...

I need to review my finances and definitely confirm doing this (with Monte, too), but once I've done that...I'd be willing to buy lunch for your services!

Not a problem! I'll try to verify that they are still there as well.

Seems to me that you volunteer for a big non-profit that has a Sam's club membership so that their yearly convention can buy supplies cheap. I think the finance director might know more than me about this issue.

Is that the kind that you got?

Their website doesn't show that they have any Daewoo DVD players - but websites aren't always as extensive as brick&mortar...

A good place to import DVDs is www.amazon.co.uk for the R2 titles and for Austrailan titles, I recommend www.ezydvd.com.au

I think you'll find that importing from Austraila is a lot cheaper than the UK (with the exchange rate and all) even after you factor in shipping.
