Back Door Friends are the Best

So, last night was another Women of Caliber event.
I rushed from work to the chiropractor (ahh...crunchy goodness. The thing I love about getting adjusted is that the pain goes away immediately. I had a headache when I walked in, and as soon as he crunched my neck - gone. I also love the little electric muscle relaxer they use on me. I wish I could have one of those at home.).
Then I rushed from the chiropractor to the grocery store. Part of the rush was that I desperately needed to pee. I am here to tell you that the restrooms in the Rainbow at the Quarry ain't bad. Hurray for clean bathrooms! (And yes, ladies, I did achieve Urvana.) I picked up stir fry fixins, and also got some flavored insta-mashed potatoes on special. Whee! I then drove my light blue salt lick of a car to
birdfigment's abode and grabbed my many bags and hustled in.
Since I provided the food goods, I didn't feel so bad about leaving the cooking duties to others. Of course, it's to the benefit of others when I don't cook. Trust me. I'm getting better, but I prefer not to show my ignorance in the presence of others. At least in the realm of cooking. So, in typical social norm, everyone gathered in the kitchen to chat whilst various members did prep and cooking things.
barda arrived just in time to do the actual stir frying. And lo, it was numalicious!
And then we sat around in the living room, eating and talking and laughing. And that was pretty much what we did all evening. Some talk had been made of doing origami, but we failed at bringing origami supplies. Pretty much everything gave way to talking and telling stories.
Let's see, we had: Fayde, Birdfigment, Ethel, Lexinatrix, Jklumpp, Moneygod, Barda and Wiredferret. I think that's everybody. JoeChico showed up near the end and was very patient with us. {grin} We talked about dogs, chiropracty, urination, Chicago, CONvergence, costuming, the Masquerade, sex, men, politics, abortion, divorce, housecleaning, babies, birthing, hormones, and possessiveness.
(Hm. Chiropracty. Chiropractation. Chiropraction. Hm.)
I am naturally a performer and storyteller, so of course I tell stories at any gathering. But boy do I love to hear other peoples' stories. And there is something so ... celebratory ... about these gatherings. Being a woman is a powerful thing.
At any rate, the time flew by and when I got home (after stopping briefly to put air in my tire - thanks Wired!) I found it was midnight. Good heavens! I had no idea how late it was!
So, today the sun is shining and I have no headache. I didn't get up early enough to do any exercise or yoga tapes. Bleh. I did do about 10 minutes of stretching and crunches just to get the blood flowing. I had an apple for breakfast. And just had a donut for a break. Erk. But I have brought some canned chicken for my lunch today (go me!). And I had some green tea - which is always good for you.
Tonight is the F'd Up Double Feature at the MoneySnake Palace. Tomorrow is rehearsal. Friday night is dinner. Saturday is Ethel's party where I will DDR with jazz hands!
Life is currently good.
