windelina: (Ick!)
I am a Mushroom-Eating Giant Monkey.

Betcha didn't know THAT.

Yesterday
I had the morning off work so I could do the matinee performance of GODSPELL for a group of schoolkids. We made some extensive cuts to get it down to about an hour running time (no intermission). I am apparently the person in the cast who everybody trusts to remember things, as Jesus turned to me and checked about the last - and biggest - cut in the script.

Call was at 8am and several of us foolishly decided on a group breakfast before the show. So, I was up and out and in Maplewood by 7am. Oy! Still, it was convivial and social. The show was fine - no biggie. The crowd was unresponsive - but what do you expect from kids? They're too cool to have fun, after all.

After the show, several who had the whole day off were going to a movie. After applying a bit of peer pressure (it didn't really take much), I called work and asked for a whole day off. "No problem." I really like my job sometimes. (Mostly when I don't have to be at my job!)
So we went and saw View from the Top the new Gwyneth Paltrow stewardess movie. There were some plot holes that I know about simply by knowing Drgnldy, but it was cute and worth $5, especially since I was seeing it in good company.

After the matinee, we parted company. I ran to Target for some stuff and then went home. Monte came home and packed for his trip. I watched a bit of my That's Entertainment! tape that Pisces bought me for my birthday/xmas. We napped a bit. Then we headed out to Seven Samurai at the Uptown. My first Kurosawa on the big screen! And Monte had never seen the movie!

The good news - it's a terrific movie and Monte really liked it. The company and chatting was terrific.
The bad news - Monte was pumpkining during the last part of the movie. (He was also feeling stressed about different things, mostly travel stuff.) And I was/am coming down with a cold.

So, despite being very tempted, we opted not to socialize afterward (it was 11pm!) and went home and to bed.

Monte got up and out the door at 4:30am. Yike! He's going to Cancun for the weekend with his family.

I got up and toddled around. I'm battling the germ warfare with bombings of zinc and orange juice, I'm flooding the region with water, and I'm providing food to help fortify our troops. (I find that continuous snacking helps me feel better, and get better sooner.)

Later today I am having lunch with Barb! Whee! Mexican food....nummmm.

Tonight - performance and cast party. Tomorrow - well attended performance and socializing after. And all weekend - IRS paperwork.
And missing Monte, of course.
